RME UFX+ over USB3 is full bandwidth and you can get like 96i/o or something and all ports active simultaneously if you use the MADI i/o. but you can do all that reliably w/USB3 as well.ĭifferences for latency for audio devices is negligible for interfaces that use thunderbolt and USB3 and you can get plenty of i/o on either. it's nice for sticking on a dock (once you do a lot of research to find one that has a good chipset/speed etc) so you can add a NAS or RAID array or whatever it is you need. there are so few thunderbolt devices other than mediocre hubs that aren't good for audio that it's almost useless for most people. I wouldn't worry about the ports so much so long as you have lot's of USB3.
